I'll be in Austin this weekend for STAPLE! the Independent Media Expo.  It'll be my first show sitting at the Space-Gun Studios table as part of the group!  I am insanely happy about that.  I'm also insanely happy because Guy Davis is going to be at the show.  Guy Davis!!  Holy crap, I can't wait to meet him.  So hey... maybe I'll see you there?  Or else!

This weekend I'll be at the Richardson Civic Center for the Dallas Comic Con [link] so stop by and say hi wontcha?  The DCC is always an awesome show and seems to get bigger and better with each one.  I mean it, check out that guest list [link] and tell me that's not some grade-A talent right there!  Adam West!?  Amazing.  Seriously, it's going to be awesome.  I will (probably) have some new prints with me and a few copies of the new God of Rock collection that debuted during Indy Comic Book Week.  See ya at the show my pretties!

p.s. - I've started updating my blog [link] on a somewhat regular basis so go and check that out too!  Mwah!

It's finally here! Indy Comic Book Week! No Spider-Man, no Batman, no Avengers, no X-Men... just good, old-fashioned, homegrown independent comics as far as the eye can see! Okay, so there's that one issue of Blackest Night. But still, this week belongs to the Indy's! Including MY very first nationally distributed comic book collecting my 24 hour comic trilogy, God of Rock. It's a crazy, caffeine-and-cigarrette-fueled tale about Pan, the God of Rock and his battle against the evil forces of Anti-Rock, who are out to destroy rock-n-roll and enslave the world. Check out a preview of the book at TFAW. You can snag a copy of God of Rock at one of the following retailers:

Titan Comics in Dallas, Texas
Zeus Comics and Collectibles in Dallas, Texas
Heroplex Comics and Games in North Richland Hills, Texas
Speeding Bullet Comics in Norman, Oklahoma
SpazDog Comics in Phoenix, Arizona
Source Comics and Games in Falcon Heights, Minnesota
Pulp Nouveau Comix in Canandaigua, New York
Midtown Comics in New York, New York
Phantom of the Attic in Pittsburgh, PA
Things From Another World Online Store

Other awesome ICBW comics to be on the look out for include Matthew Warlick's Senryu, Jake Ekiss' Solomon Azua and David Hopkins' One Night Stand (which is apparently available at just about every comic store ever). There will be signings and events all over, it's like a nerd holiday. Here's where a few of my fellow ICBW collaborators and good buddies will be today:

David Hopkins will be at Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles, CA
Joe Eisma will be at Keith's Comics in Dallas, TX
Jake Ekiss will be at Titan Comics in Dallas, TX
Matthew Warlick will be at Madness Games & Comics in Plano, TX

I was planning to be at Titan Comics with Jake today but a combination of work and debilatating illness kept me from being able to go. But that's not going to stop me from heading straight to the comic book store when I get off work! So come on, it's Wednesday and there's absolutely no reason you shouldn't be at your local comic book store checking out all of the awesome independent comics hitting the new week rack! And in the immortal words of renowned film critic Jay Sherman, "Buy my book! Buy my book! Buy my book!"

Heard of Indy Comic Book Week?  Well if not, here's some info about it:

Indy Comic Book Week is not only an event, but also a call to action.

Diamond Comic Distributors announced they will not ship any new comics for the last week of December. This company is the primary distributor of comic books in North America. What some would call a sad week without our favorite mainstream titles, we are calling an opportunity. This vacancy allows independent and small press comic book creators to claim this week as their own.

We challenge writers and artists to self publish new material for this week, and offer it to their local stores. We ask for retailers to take this as an opportunity to showcase local independent talent on the new release shelves. We encourage fans to break from their buying habits and try something new.

Raise your fist and proudly declare that comic books are more than an industry, more than a handful of corporations – it is a creative outlet for independent-minded artists and storytellers. This last week of 2009 belongs to you. Power to the people. Right on.

If you're on twitter, use the hashtag #indycomicbookweek when promoting your site.

I'm participating with a brand new Dash Bradley comic, Dash Bradley and The Flying Fortresses of Doom!

Spread the word! Visit indycomicbookweek.com for more info!

WHEN: Saturday, August 15, 2009 and Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 4:00pm

WHERE: Richardson Civic Center (free parking) 411 W. Arapaho Road

WHAT: That's right, Dallas Comic Con managed to snag me for a rare, exclusive appearance! Oh sure... there will be some other big names in attendance - Paul Smith, Bill Sienkiewicz, J Scott Campbell, Jason Pearson, Brian Stelfreeze and Barry Bostwick. But the odds of ME appearing at another comic book convention in Dallas ever again?! Astronomical.

I'll have a number of premium, high-quality products for sale including my first ever sketchbook - PULPTASTIC, a new printing of my 24-hour comic, THE GOD OF ROCK (also featuring the previously unreleased follow-up, THE GOD OF ROCK STRIKES BACK), prints, sketchcards and, if you're extra good, I'll be doing commissioned sketches.

Also - I've graciously allowed up-and-coming writer David Hopkins to sit with me at the show and if you're lucky (and he's not off getting coffee or shopping the dealers room for me) you might be able to get your grubby mitts on some of the awesome swag he's selling like the all new KARMA INCORPORATED SCRIPT BOOK, featuring a lovingly and carefully crafted cover design by moi.

So come on out for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! And meet some of my very bestest friends while you're at it!

Today is the online release of 100 Damned Guns' new album Musica de Tormento, the follow up to their 2007 album, Songs of Murder, Pain and Woe.  I did the designs for Musica de Tormento and it was one of the best jobs I've ever had.  I love 100 Damned Guns - the guys in the band are awesome, their music is completely bad ass and they play a kick ass live show, so being able to work on both this cd and their last one was a really cool experience.

You can BUY MUSICA DE TORMENTO HERE and I highly recommend that you do! As good as their last album was, this one is even better! How can you go wrong with lyrics like:

I used to beat my woman
I used to make her cry
The more that she loved me
The more I let it fly
Man I was mean
And my little queen was sore
But I ain't that bad anymore

So this Saturday I will be attending STAPLE! in Austin, TX.  I missed it last year and really regretted it, it's an awesome show with lots of cool folk, great comics and kickass parties.

I'll be sitting at Table #22 with the always lovely Mr. David Hopkins, hawking a few of my comics and probably trying to get a few more pages of How To Lose Big in the can.

Hope to see some of you there!
